Blessing of a New House

Neil and I are in the process of building our house and what an experience it has been so far.

We’ve learned so much in the last year that it’s hard to even put into words what this process has meant to us. First, we moved into Neil’s parent’s basement to make a huge impact on our savings for the new chapter in our life. Second, we decided that building an energy efficient home was the best route for our family. It’s been a year of trials, triumphs, frustrations and blessings.

We know that all blessings come from God and we don’t ever want to take this experience, frustrations and all, for granted. We’ve prayed through this journey, we’ve cried (ok, maybe that was just me) and we’ve been overwhelmed with joy.

Last night while checking out the progress, Neil and I brought a Sharpie with us. We picked one of our favorite bible verses to write on a stud in our bedroom.

 “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

I’m curious if any of the guys will find it tomorrow.

Each time we visit the house to see the progress, we are in awe. We’ve been praying over the new house, the workers and crews involved and for our hearts to be humbled through this process.

Neil and I both are committed to using this house for so much more than just a place to sleep and store up treasures. We want to welcome strangers, laugh at family dinners, grow our family and welcome our neighbors near and far.

We are excited for what lies ahead in this journey.
